Traveling Wind Technician, GE LOTO Certified

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +22 more locations.

📋 Description

• Travel extensively to wind farms across North America on an 8/1 rotation.

• Execute blade Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) responsibilities for GE wind turbines to support blade repair operations.

• Oversee confined space activities related to internal blade repair tasks.

• Support the blade repair team both at height and on the ground.

• Engage with customers on-site as necessary.

• Aid in basket operation, rigging and de-rigging of the blade access platform, and tag-lining.

• Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot issues related to the work scope.

• Keep an organized inventory of supplies on-site during repair activities.

• Carry out various operational support tasks as directed by the team leader.

• Deliver excellent customer service, adhere to site regulations, and focus on details.

• Uphold professional behavior and safeguard company property and interests.

• Ensure personal, team, and site safety at all times.

• Contribute to a diverse team environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team setting, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Possession of a current GE LOTO Certificate (NAM Blade LOTO, NAM Tech Essentials, or RELC Tech Essentials) with proof.

• Must be recognized as a GE Qualified Electrical Worker 1.

• Completion of, or training in, GWO Basic Safety Training, OSHA 10, NFPA 70-E, and Confined Space is required.

• Competence in the safe and proper use of powered hand tools.

• Preferred knowledge of composite blade repair specifications and techniques, though not mandatory.

• Familiarity with reading intricate technical diagrams and processes is advantageous.

• Proficiency in IT, including email, web usage, and iPad operations.

• Willingness and capability to travel extensively via air and ground transportation on short notice, often spending significant time away from home.

• Ability to drive or travel for up to 11 hours per day when necessary.

• Adaptability to changes in work scope and schedule.

• Strong teamwork skills and openness to guidance.

• Valid driver's license, satisfactory MVR report, and at least 21 years of age to operate a company vehicle.

• Capacity to climb ladders multiple times daily up to 300 feet/90 meters, as well as bend, crawl, stoop, and lift weights up to 75 pounds.

• Capability to wear a respirator and work safely while utilizing protective equipment.

• Adequate vision, with corrective lenses if necessary, for detailed inspections, reading instructions, and safe operation of equipment.

• Eligibility extends to US/Canadian citizens or individuals legally authorized to work in either country.

• Additional certifications such as GWO BST, GWO BTT, IRATA or SPRAT, OSHA 10 General Industry, and GE NAM Blade LOTO certificate are considered advantageous.

• Must be willing and able to travel 100% on an 8/1 rotation.

• Must be willing and able to frequently travel by commercial airline to North American project locations.

• Must meet specified physical demands and be comfortable working at heights over 100 meters.
