Transportation Consultant – Final Mile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main operational Single Point of Contact (POC) for FDC transportation operations within a designated portfolio of 1 to 5 facilities.

• Address and resolve daily transportation and delivery challenges to safeguard service levels and ensure network continuity.

• Collaborate with dedicated carrier operations management and 3PL partners to manage service delivery expectations and address localized exceptions.

• Work alongside Transportation Planners to reinforce standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with daily operations.

• Drive and confirm adherence to established protocols across assigned locations.

• Oversee the maintenance of SOPs and manage the ASO (After-Sale Order) process.

• Anticipate, coordinate, and implement contingency plans for severe weather, peak holiday volume changes, and transportation system outages.

• Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Tableau, and Power BI to monitor operational health, track KPIs, assess failure modes, and provide data-driven feedback.

• Identify opportunities for operational streamlining and waste reduction, collaborating with engineering and leadership on best practices and corrective measures.

• Act as a liaison among distribution center operations, customer service, planning, and external transportation providers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

• Preferred Certifications: PMP, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, particularly in dedicated fleet operations, dispatch management, or carrier operations is preferred.

• Proven experience in managing operational processes, day-to-day transportation execution, and 3PL/carrier performance across regional or multi-facility networks.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data, review scorecards, and extract actionable insights from transportation trends.

• Familiarity or proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is preferred.

• Demonstrated capability to coordinate and lead during time-sensitive operational disruptions, including weather-related contingencies and holiday operational planning.

• Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional peers and external partners.

• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic logistics environment.

• Travel Expectations: 10-15%.
