Title Examiner/Abstractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Evaluate title orders in accordance with company standards to assess title condition and insurability.

• Examine deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, and probates for their effects on title.

• Investigate and review public records and legal documents to determine ownership, legal descriptions, and title-related challenges.

• Identify title defects or inconsistencies and create strategies to address them.

• Clarify the chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to clients.

• Offer expertise on title-related issues.

• Achieve production goals and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Uphold high production standards and complete tasks in a timely manner.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.

• Engage in special projects as needed.

• Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, client expectations, court rules, and best practices.

• Deliver precise, timely, and high-quality legal work products for represented financial institutions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in title examination.

• In-depth knowledge of real estate law and title examination processes.

• Capability to interpret complex legal documents.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient organizational skills.

• Familiarity with title examination procedures.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

• Capacity to maintain focus for long durations.

• Skill in working on computers for a considerable part of the day.

• Ability to perform repetitive motions as necessary, including typing, clicking, and swiveling.

• Ability to lift 10–20 pounds as required.

• Candidates for U.S. job openings must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Newly hired employees are required to complete the I-9 form and provide documentation of identity and work eligibility.
