This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +5 more states.
• Abstract and review documents sourced from public records, providing title opinions based on factual information and documentation.
• Analyze previous chains of title and pertinent documents for inaccuracies and title-related issues.
• Review title orders to assess title conditions and insurability.
• Generate precise and thorough title commitments in accordance with company protocols.
• Investigate title plant software and evaluate record documents to ascertain ownership and legal descriptions.
• Clarify chains of title, exceptions, and requirements to clients and management.
• Identify title defects and devise corrective actions.
• Evaluate risks and liabilities, escalating issues to title managers or underwriters as necessary.
• Maintain daily production targets and delivery standards.
• Collaborate with clients and management to adhere to timelines and address inquiries.
• Engage in special projects and undertake other assigned responsibilities.
• Previous experience in preparing title commitments is essential.
• Prior experience in examining titles in MN, WI, IL, MO, KS, and NE is required.
• A minimum of four years of experience in the industry is necessary.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Understanding of underwriting policies and guidelines for the specified states is essential.
• Familiarity with real estate law and title and escrow curative processes is needed.
• Preferably experienced with title searching software such as DataTree, DATA Trace, FASTSearch, and county websites.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Effective organizational skills and the ability to work within set timelines are needed.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment is necessary.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities are essential.
• Proficient in defining problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
• Competent in interpreting written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds is required.
