This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +5 more states.
• Analyze and review documents sourced from public records to provide title opinions.
• Investigate previous chains of title and pertinent documents to identify errors and title-related issues.
• Assess title conditions and insurability by examining deeds, deeds of trust, mortgages, liens, judgments, assessments, probates, and other recorded matters.
• Generate precise title commitments in accordance with the company's examination and policy procedures.
• Research title plant software and analyze record documents to establish ownership and legal descriptions.
• Clarify chains of title, exceptions, and requirements to clients and management.
• Identify title defects and develop curative solutions.
• Evaluate risks and liabilities, escalating issues to title managers or underwriters as necessary.
• Maintain daily production targets and adhere to delivery standards.
• Collaborate with clients and management to fulfill time requirements and address inquiries.
• Execute assigned responsibilities and engage in special projects.
• Previous experience in preparing title commitments is essential.
• Prior experience in examining titles in MN, WI, IL, MO, KS, and NE is required.
• At least four years of relevant industry experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Understanding of underwriting policies and guidelines specific to designated states.
• Familiarity with real estate law and title and escrow curative procedures.
• Preferred experience with title searching software such as DataTree, DATA Trace, FASTSearch, and various county websites.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and capability to operate within defined time frames.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Specialized training in word processing, database, or spreadsheet software is a plus.
• Skill in defining problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing logical conclusions.
• Capability to address practical problems with limited standardization.
• Proficiency in interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
