Senior Project Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Oversee, enhance the design, and guide the implementation of Energy Vault BESS projects in Japan.

• Take charge of project execution, which includes managing scope, timeline, stakeholders, and coordination.

• Identify discrepancies in scope and responsibilities and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve them.

• Comprehend and assist with engineering, procurement, construction, and permitting workflows.

• Utilize engineering principles and consult with subject matter experts to pinpoint issues and drive solutions.

• Specify project equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and protection solutions.

• Collaborate with project managers, product engineers, sales teams, utilities, AHJs, contractors, and end customers.

• Examine project design documents, including single-line drawings, communication diagrams, layouts, and equipment test reports.

• Organize and lead the commissioning of BESS projects.

• Offer constructive feedback to enhance internal processes and products.

• Assist in documenting and establishing scalable processes, technologies, and products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both Japanese and English.

• Possess current work rights in Japan.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical or power system engineering) or possess equivalent experience.

• Have over 10 years of experience leading project design, ideally for large power stations, PV, or other utility-scale power projects.

• Preferably have more than 5 years of experience working on BESS projects.

• Accumulate at least 3 years of experience in EPC projects.

• Knowledgeable about relevant electrical standards for BESS projects in Japan.

• PE certification or an equivalent qualification is preferred.

• Familiar with the permitting processes involving local authorities.

• Skilled in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Willing to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30% of the time.

• Comfortable in fast-paced, rapidly growing environments.
