
Therapist – Suicide Prevention, Family Support

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Deliver evidence-based teletherapy for individuals, families, and parents/guardians of youth aged 12–26 who are at high or critical risk of suicide.
• Employ family-systems frameworks, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Children (C-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Motivational Interviewing techniques.
• Utilize validated suicide risk assessment instruments, such as the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS).
• Facilitate real-time safety planning, lethal means counseling, and crisis stabilization processes.
• Conduct monthly clinical evaluations to assess acuity and monitor the trajectory of suicide risk.
• Modify the frequency of care and treatment objectives based on the member's readiness and the capacity of the family.
• Direct clinical safety strategies in collaboration with Behavioral Health Support Specialists and the 24/7 crisis response team.
• Address high-acuity escalations through immediate risk mitigation, triage, and updates to safety plans.
• Complete timely DAP documentation to substantiate medical necessity, levels of suicide risk, family interventions, and whole-person care for Medicaid Fee-For-Service billing.
• Engage members and caregivers using video, secure messaging, and interactive safety applications.
• Participate in interdisciplinary huddles, maintain registry accuracy, and oversee billable hours, documentation turnaround, and attendance rates.
• Collaborate with members, families, and healthcare providers to formulate personalized care plans.
• Develop and coordinate resources related to medical, behavioral, suicide prevention, and community social services.
• Identify and initiate referrals for financial, psychosocial, community, and state support services.
• Document assessments, care plans, referrals, necessary records, reports, paperwork, and diagnostic information while ensuring confidentiality.
• A Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or another relevant behavioral health discipline from an accredited institution is mandatory.
• A current independent behavioral health license from the Washington Department of Health (WA DOH) is required.
• Eligible licenses include Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
• A minimum of two years of direct experience in the behavioral health field working with adolescents and adults is essential.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in suicide prevention.
• Crisis intervention training and experience are required.
• Familiarity with local resources, social determinants of health, mental health issues, substance use disorders, interpersonal violence, and social concerns is necessary.
• Preference for knowledge of Medicare or Medicaid practices.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health records (EHR), are required.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment regarding sensitive member information.
• Exceptional listening, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• Capability to manage case work in both routine and crisis situations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, manage time, and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments effectively.
