Telehealth Primary Therapist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.

📋 Description

• Deliver individual, group, and family therapy sessions.

• Perform thorough biopsychosocial and clinical evaluations via telehealth.

• Assess client needs, diagnoses, suitable levels of care, and personalized treatment suggestions.

• Create, implement, and revise tailored treatment plans.

• Provide care for mental health issues, substance use disorders, trauma-related challenges, and co-occurring conditions.

• Lead structured virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) groups, covering psychoeducation, process discussions, relapse prevention, coping strategies, emotional regulation, and recovery-oriented programming.

• Track client progress and offer suitable treatment and care level recommendations.

• Engage in treatment team meetings and clinical consultations.

• Aid in the development and enhancement of clinical workflows, processes, programming, group content, documentation standards, policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Provide clinical consultation and peer support, mentoring and aiding fellow clinicians.

• Assist in onboarding and training new clinicians.

• Support quality assurance efforts and conduct clinical chart reviews.

• Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other necessary clinical documentation.

• Keep precise clinical records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

• Uphold confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations, ethical standards, organizational policies, telehealth mandates, and Hawai‘i laws and regulations.

• Conduct risk assessments and respond appropriately to client safety issues.

• Coordinate care with external providers, referral partners, family members, and community resources.

• Collaborate with the Clinical Director and a multidisciplinary treatment team.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.

• A current Hawai‘i behavioral health license or an associate-level credential, as relevant to the candidate's profession and scope of practice.

• Must be a resident of Hawai‘i or meet the necessary Hawai‘i criteria to deliver telehealth services to clients in the state.

• Preferred experience in providing psychotherapy in outpatient, IOP, substance use disorder, co-occurring, or telehealth settings.

• Familiarity with DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria, biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and clinical documentation.

• Experience addressing mental health, substance use, trauma-related, and co-occurring issues.

• Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based therapeutic methods.

• Experience delivering individual and group therapy in a virtual format.

• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.

• Capacity to independently manage a clinical caseload and virtual schedule.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with a remote multidisciplinary team.

• Proficiency in maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards in a virtual setting.

• Access to reliable high-speed internet and a private, confidential workspace suitable for telehealth services.

• Preferred prior experience in clinical supervision, leadership, program development, or team leadership.
