Technical Staff Member – Customer Tools

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop software AI labs that facilitate computational tasks.

• Collaborate with principal engineers and customer research and infrastructure teams to create initial versions of a new product.

• Design and implement backend services using Go, Kubernetes, and Postgres.

• Create a console using TypeScript.

• Oversee the management of customer clusters.

• Participate in on-call duties and engage with customers weekly.

• Integrate clusters from Andromeda, various providers, and customer-owned sites into a single login and unified job execution process.

• Deliver insights into cluster health, utilization, expenses, and alerts.

• Establish organizations, roles, and SSO across customer clusters.

• Assist customers in identifying unused GPUs, offering idle capacity in the marketplace, and reclaiming it as necessary.

• Recognize customer challenges, determine future developments, and oversee product launches.

⛳️ Requirements

• A track record of impactful technical work, with experience ranging from three to twenty years.

• Proven experience in building multi-tenant systems, including aspects of authorization, organization management, and data segregation.

• Proficiency with Kubernetes and experience working with its API.

• Background in developing telemetry pipelines for metrics, logs, or events.

• Experience with production services in Go, or a systems background that allows for shipping production-level Go within the initial month.

• Front-end development skills adequate to deliver the front end for assigned features.

• Experience in production on-call roles, managing a pager for customer-dependent systems.

• A focus on backend and infrastructure rather than solely front-end development.

• Capability to derive solutions from customer issues and rough outlines without needing comprehensive specifications.

• Enthusiasm for developing a new, unreleased product.

• This is an individual contributor position; it is not a management role.

• Strong candidates may possess experience in ML or HPC infrastructure, including training clusters, Slurm, or job scheduling systems.

• Strong candidates may have backgrounds in cloud consoles or developer platforms.

• Strong candidates may have enterprise identity experience, covering SSO, SCIM, and integrations with identity providers.

• Strong candidates may have experience in syncing or replicating large datasets across clusters or geographical regions.
