VDC/BIM Plumbing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Collect, prepare, validate, and implement 3D data tailored to customer and project requirements.

• Collaborate with onsite project/customer engineers, architects, and owners to address project modifications from inception to completion.

• Obtain pre-construction specification data and execute 3D project designs alongside Construction Engineers, Architects, and General Contractors.

• Evaluate specifications and sample layouts to execute customer design initiatives and projects.

• Make independent pipe-routing decisions to enhance field labor efficiency and prevent clashes.

• Conduct regular and situational audits and analyses to identify errors and gaps in 3D data.

• Ensure that work meets the needs of clients and stakeholders.

• Liaise with internal teams, external vendors, and clients regarding changes in business processes.

• Assess design data in various formats for precision and feasibility.

• Comprehend information and deliverable expectations clearly.

• Offer guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of trade experience (e.g., Plumbing, General Contractor, journeyman, apprenticeship, etc.) or a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in mechanical construction is preferred.

• Familiarity with Construction practices (both pre & post) for Mechanical and Plumbing/Piping Systems.

• High proficiency in computer-aided design software such as Revit, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud, etc., and Microsoft Office is essential.

• Experience with the pre-construction coordination (BIM) process is highly desirable.

• Working knowledge of Building Codes related to Mechanical and Plumbing/Piping Systems.

• Ability to interpret critical building & blueprint specification data to make informed and independent decisions for the pre-construction virtual design team.

• Experience with Point Cloud Scan workflows is preferred.

• Candidates residing in the general Raleigh, Riviera Beach, or Newport News areas are expected to be in the office 3 days per week for hybrid schedules.

• Remote/Hybrid candidates must possess a high-speed internet connection.

• Remote candidates may require scheduling flexibility for onboarding, training, and team meetings due to operations in Eastern and Central time zones.
