This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Enterprise Applications, Legal, and Deal Desk to evaluate revenue recognition strategies for new product initiatives in accordance with ASC 606.
• Create and officially document revenue accounting policies and technical position papers for new products prior to their launch.
• Provide revenue accounting guidance to teams responsible for its application.
• Investigate, resolve, and draft technical revenue position papers for complex, non-standard transactions and corporate acquisitions.
• Assess consumption-based billing models, multi-element packaging, emerging commercial frameworks, and changing deployment models.
• Ascertain the appropriate accounting treatment and performance obligations in line with ASC 606.
• Spearhead cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing technical revenue processes.
• Suggest system and policy enhancements that promote automation, decrease launch friction, and boost accounting efficiency.
• Act as the main liaison for technical revenue issues with external auditors.
• Assemble audit support packages, address inquiries, and uphold SOX control documentation.
• Assist with month-end and quarterly close processes and reporting, including revenue analysis and flux reporting.
• Support ad hoc technical accounting requests, finance initiatives, merger and acquisition activities, and cross-departmental projects that necessitate revenue accounting expertise.
• Occasionally undertake responsibilities outside standard working hours due to collaboration across different time zones.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Current CPA license.
• Over 5 years of pertinent accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on Technical Revenue.
• Extensive practical knowledge of ASC 606, particularly in multi-element, consumption-based, and hybrid arrangements.
• Proficient in standalone selling price, performance obligation identification, variable consideration, material rights, contract modifications, and principal-versus-agent analysis.
• Proven technical accounting research and writing capabilities, including drafting position papers and policies that withstand audit and management scrutiny.
• Skill in identifying key factors influencing accounting conclusions and providing defensible answers without excessive analysis.
• Ability to influence others without direct authority and to communicate technical accounting concepts to individuals without an accounting background.
• Familiarity with revenue controls and supporting external audits within a SOX framework.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce.
• A genuine interest in leveraging AI and automation in finance operations, with practical experience in doing so.
• Exposure to diligence related to mergers and acquisitions or post-close revenue integration.
• Prior Public Accounting experience concerning Revenue (ASC 606) is preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite ARM is advantageous.
• Proficiency in generative AI tools is a plus.
