Technical Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Facilitate coordination of tasks among Engineering, Quality Engineering, SRE, Release Management, Product, Architecture, and TPM teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.

• Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to deliver functional requirements and confirm that features align with specifications.

• Contribute directly 20–30% of the time by writing and reviewing code, debugging intricate issues, designing and evolving APIs, and providing scalable platform services.

• Lead, mentor, and motivate software engineers while promoting their professional development.

• Construct and assess system architecture and design, influence the product roadmap, introduce new technologies, and take ownership of new projects.

• Work alongside Product, Security, Architecture, and Operations to ensure engineering execution aligns with business objectives.

• Identify bottlenecks, minimize technical debt, and enhance scalability, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.

• Define and monitor engineering KPIs, manage resource allocation and project priorities, and guarantee timely, high-quality delivery.

• Offer technical guidance on software development technologies, trends, and best practices.

• Supervise and manage on-call incidents, troubleshoot critical disruptions, and minimize downtime.

• Foster the adoption of modern development practices, tools, and frameworks.

• Encourage collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and experimentation.

• Partner with Product Management in brainstorming sessions and addressing technical debt requirements.

• Report on accomplishments, objectives, issues, and deliverable statuses to manage stakeholder expectations.

• Set performance objectives for direct reports.

• Pursue education in management philosophies, banking industry insights, and client-specific applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in several of the following: .NET, Java, C#, Linux Container Development, k8s, MVC, SaaS, SOA, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Modern Javascript Frameworks, Entity Framework, microservices, or an equivalent.

• Proven experience in building and delivering SaaS-based software with modern system architecture, including microservices-based architecture and cloud-native applications.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Solid understanding of Operational Excellence, encompassing Dev/Ops, CI/CD, Automated Testing, and Observability.

• Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, New Relic, or Haystack.

• Experience in real-time processing using event-driven architecture and batch processing of high-volume transactions.

• Experience in developing complex role-based access and entitlement systems.

• Proficient in data-driven decision-making and assessing technical feasibility, business impact, and resource constraints.

• Demonstrated experience in building scalable, operationally efficient systems.

• Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.

• Capacity to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and groups.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and timely solution implementation.

• Experience managing multiple concurrent work streams.

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing Software Engineer teams.

• Experience in communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership regarding requirements, software features, technical designs, and product strategy.

• Experience in managing global teams across various time zones.

• Familiarity with Lean-Agile methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum.

• Preferred: experience in fintech, digital banking, or highly regulated industries.

• Preferred: experience with SaaS offerings in technology and financial sectors.

• Preferred: knowledge in treasury management, cash positioning, liquidity management, commercial payments, and reconciliation.

• Preferred: understanding of ISO 20022, BAI2, MT940, and EDI 820.
