Technical Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the coordination of tasks among Engineering, Quality Engineering, SRE, Release Management, Product, Architecture, and TPM teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.

• Engage hands-on 20–30% of the time by writing and reviewing code, debugging intricate issues, designing and evolving APIs, and delivering scalable platform services.

• Lead, mentor, and motivate software engineers while facilitating their professional development.

• Design and assess system architecture, influence the product roadmap, introduce new technologies, and take ownership of new projects.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Security, Architecture, and Operations.

• Identify bottlenecks, minimize technical debt, and enhance scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.

• Define and monitor engineering KPIs, including deployment frequency, MTTR, test coverage, and SLA compliance.

• Manage resource allocation, distribute workloads, and prioritize projects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.

• Provide technical expertise on software development technologies, trends, and best practices.

• Supervise on-call incidents, troubleshooting and resolving critical disruptions.

• Promote the adoption of modern development practices, tools, and frameworks.

• Encourage collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and experimentation.

• Work with Product Management on brainstorming and technical debt requirements.

• Communicate accomplishments, goals, issues, and deliverable statuses to stakeholders.

• Set performance objectives for direct reports.

• Pursue ongoing education on management philosophies, banking industry knowledge, and client-segment applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in several technologies including: .NET, Java, C#, Linux Container Development, Kubernetes, MVC, SaaS, SOA, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Modern JavaScript Frameworks, Entity Framework, and microservices.

• Proven track record in building and delivering SaaS-based software with contemporary system architecture, such as microservice-based architecture and cloud-native applications.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Strong understanding of Operational Excellence, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.

• Experience with observability tools like Grafana, New Relic, and Haystack.

• Background in real-time processing with event-driven architecture and batch processing of high-volume transactions.

• Experience in developing complex role-based access and entitlement systems.

• Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and assessing technical, business, and resource trade-offs.

• Experience in creating scalable, operationally efficient systems.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.

• Capability to establish and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and timely implementation of solutions.

• Proven success in managing multiple concurrent work streams.

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing software engineering teams.

• Proficient in communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership regarding requirements, product features, technical designs, and product strategy.

• Experience managing global teams across various time zones.

• Familiarity with Lean-Agile methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum.

• Preferred: experience in fintech, digital banking, or highly regulated industries.

• Preferred: experience with SaaS offerings in technology and financial sectors.

• Preferred: knowledge of treasury management, cash positioning, liquidity management, commercial payments, and reconciliation.

• Preferred: familiarity with ISO 20022, BAI2, MT940, and EDI 820.
