Technical Contract Surety Underwriting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Assist in the management of the company's underwriting framework with general supervision.

• Underwrite and oversee accounts along with their respective lines.

• Create and implement a strategic marketing plan.

• Conduct and oversee risk assessments.

• Review, evaluate, accept, reject, price, quote, and bind new or renewal submissions that involve significant premium or risk exposure.

• Establish strong relationships with agents, reinsurers, and key contacts.

• Analyze complex submissions, account losses, pricing structures, and profitable premium opportunities.

• Examine intricate profit sources by selecting suitable risks.

• Develop and sustain a profitable portfolio of business.

• Support special projects or other tasks as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a bachelor's degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience is necessary for consideration.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.

• Ability to recognize proper sign-offs and demonstrate sound underwriting judgment in most scenarios.

• Comprehensive understanding of internal product procedures and loss rating/credibility.

• Capability to establish and maintain a profitable portfolio of business.

• Ensure files are complete and organized during audits.

• Documentation should clearly convey judgment/pricing for reviewer comprehension.

• Demonstrate initiative and a strong work ethic that reflects a deeper understanding and commitment to the underwriting process.
