Commercial Underwriting Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Prepare and authorize renewals for accounts within designated authority limits, emphasizing long-term profitability, retention, and alignment with branch and company pricing strategies.

• Assess account risk profiles and eligibility for renewal in accordance with underwriting guidelines.

• Build and maintain relationships with agents while delivering exceptional customer service to enhance renewal retention.

• Review and sanction endorsements within defined criteria and authority.

• Underwrite and generate endorsement quotes for agents.

• Examine and approve reinstatements and cancellations.

• Assist agents with inquiries related to policy billing.

• Execute support functions for branch departments, which include ordering and analyzing reports, reviewing drivers, and completing monthly projects.

• Collaborate with seasoned underwriters and territory management team members to understand the company's and branch's risk appetite, underwriting resources, and systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience.

• One year of experience in the insurance industry or a related field.

• A Bachelor's degree may be accepted in place of the insurance industry experience requirement.

• Strong attention to detail and precise data entry skills.

• Proficient personal computer skills, particularly in Microsoft products.

• General understanding of insurance terminology.

• Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Outstanding customer service and communication skills.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Strong negotiation capabilities.

• Ability to work both collaboratively in a team and independently.

• Occasional travel may be required.

• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards is necessary if driving.
