Commercial Underwriting Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Prepare and authorize renewals for accounts within established authority limits, prioritizing long-term profitability, retention, and alignment with branch and company pricing objectives.

• Assess account risk profiles and eligibility for renewal based on predefined underwriting criteria.

• Foster agent relationships through exceptional customer service to enhance renewal retention.

• Review and approve endorsements in accordance with specified requirements and authority.

• Underwrite and supply endorsement quotes to agents.

• Review and sanction reinstatements and cancellations.

• Assist agents with inquiries related to policy billing.

• Support branch departments by ordering and analyzing reports, reviewing drivers, and completing monthly projects.

• Collaborate with seasoned underwriters and members of the territory management team to gain insights into company and branch risk appetite, underwriting resources, and systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience is required.

• Minimum of one year of experience in the insurance industry or a related field.

• A Bachelor’s degree may be accepted in place of the insurance industry experience requirement.

• Strong attention to detail and proficient data entry skills are essential.

• Proficient personal computer skills, particularly in Microsoft products.

• General understanding of insurance terminology is important.

• Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities are required.

• Exceptional customer service and communication skills are a must.

• Strong organizational and time management capabilities are needed.

• Excellent negotiation skills are essential.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.

• Occasional travel may be necessary.

• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record per company standards is required if driving.
