Tech Lead – Technology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Guide data squads from a technical standpoint, ensuring the quality, scalability, and governance of the solutions delivered.

• Serve as a technical authority for the design and implementation of solutions on contemporary data platforms.

• Assist in defining and evolving data architecture, encompassing ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers (Medallion Architecture).

• Influence technical decisions regarding data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and storage strategies within cloud environments.

• Establish and advocate for data engineering best practices, coding standards, and technical review processes.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and BI teams.

• Develop and mentor data engineers, architects, and analysts from a technical perspective.

• Aid in technical hiring processes, which include creating assessments and conducting interviews.

• Contribute to technical roadmaps and prioritize technical debt.

• Monitor and optimize the costs associated with the data platform, balancing performance, scalability, and financial efficiency (FinOps).

• Support pre-sales activities, including technical discovery, effort estimation, POC/pilot design, and defending technical proposals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in Data Engineering with involvement in large-scale projects.

• Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP — preferably Azure).

• Proficient in Python and SQL for constructing pipelines, transformations, and automation.

• Familiarity with pipeline orchestration tools (Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or similar).

• Experience with Databricks and Apache Spark/PySpark, along with knowledge of Workflows, Lakeflow Spark Declarative Pipelines (ex DLT), Lakeflow Connect, and Declarative Automation Bundles.

• Understanding of dimensional modeling and Data Warehouse/Data Lakehouse design.

• Experienced with BI tools and semantic layers (Power BI, Azure Analysis Services, Tableau, or similar).

• Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Knowledge of Unity Catalog and data governance.

• Previous experience as a technical lead for teams or data projects.

• Familiarity with the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).

• Understanding of DataOps practices and CI/CD applied to data and analytical models.

• Experience with multi-platform integrations and various formats (ERP, databases, APIs) — nice to have.

• Experience with AI/ML (MLflow, Databricks Mosaic AI, or Azure Machine Learning) — nice to have.

• Cloud or Databricks certifications — nice to have.

• Experience in consulting environments or multi-client projects — nice to have.
