Tech Lead, Senior Backend Developer – TypeScript, Node.js

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Take charge of backend architecture across two large-scale microservice platforms, featuring over 30 and 25 services respectively.

• Lead the integration efforts with payment providers, card issuers, blockchain networks, and various third-party APIs.

• Ensure integration reliability within the production environment.

• Identify performance bottlenecks, design effective caching strategies, optimize database queries, and manage the increasing load on the platform.

• Make key architectural decisions, evaluate different trade-offs, and set engineering standards.

• Contribute to workflows powered by AI for operations and development.

• Dedicate around 20% of your working time to maintain and enhance React-based back-office administration dashboards.

• Own features from start to finish, covering planning, architectural design, implementation, testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate effectively with Product, QA, Frontend, Mobile, and other cross-functional teams.

• Create technical documentation, engage in code reviews, and share your knowledge with the team.

• Participate in a shared on-call rotation, approximately one week each month.

• Independently manage complex integrations and provide partial support to the Tech Lead.

• Deliver initial features within 30 days, lead a complex integration or major feature within 60 days, and make architectural decisions within scope by 90 days.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of production backend development experience using TypeScript/Node.js as the primary technology stack.

• At least 2 years of production experience with NestJS, covering modules, providers, middleware, guards, interceptors, and microservice architecture with custom transports.

• Experience with blockchain technology in production, including on-chain transactions, multiple networks, and real user funds management.

• Knowledge of HD wallets (BIP32/BIP39), smart contracts, ABI, ERC-20/SPL tokens, and the differences between account-based and UTXO models.

• Proficiency with libraries such as ethers.js, viem, and solana/web3.js.

• Daily active use of AI tools like Claude, Copilot, or Cursor.

• Proven experience in optimizing business or organizational processes using AI/LLMs.

• Extensive expertise in PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, zero-downtime migrations, and database-per-service patterns.

• Practical experience with microservices, including RPC, pub/sub, message brokers, idempotency, eventual consistency, and saga/outbox patterns.

• Background in system design, focusing on service decomposition, API contracts, data-flow architecture, and capacity planning.

• Experience with complex production integrations involving third-party APIs, payment systems, or similar external services.

• Familiarity with retries, circuit breakers, and effective graceful degradation strategies.

• Performance engineering experience including profiling, caching, load analysis, and identifying bottlenecks.

• Strong testing discipline with Jest, integration tests using real databases, and microservice testing methodologies.

• Security-focused development experience in fintech and cryptocurrency environments.

• Technical research capabilities for evaluating trade-offs, testing hypotheses, and making data-driven architectural decisions.

• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level.

• Fluent in Russian.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with NATS JetStream, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, pino, Kubernetes, Kustomize/Helm, PCI DSS, GDPR, KYC/AML, payment systems, mentoring experience, and basic React knowledge.
