Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance on technical choices, manage trade-offs, and assist engineers in producing high-quality results.

• Engage in coding, pair programming, conduct peer reviews, and lead software and architectural design.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings, aid in career development, and maintain a robust feedback loop.

• Work closely with product and design teams to define scope, prioritize tasks effectively, and ensure alignment on outcomes.

• Lead and mentor a globally distributed engineering team.

• Advocate for best practices in architecture, CI/CD, testing, and code quality.

• Foster a DevOps culture where engineers take ownership of systems from design through deployment and beyond.

• Design and deliver scalable, maintainable systems and features that have a measurable impact on learners.

• Collaborate with AI specialists to incorporate adaptive, personalized learning into the platform.

• Partner with product, design, and data teams to outline the roadmap and scope of work.

• Continuously enhance delivery speed, reliability, team workflows, and technical decision-making.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of commercial experience as a Software Engineer.

• Required overlap with UK timezone; usual working hours within ±3 hours of London.

• Senior engineering experience in dynamic, product-oriented environments.

• Ideally, experience in leading teams or managing large projects.

• Strong skills in software architecture: API-first, modular design, asynchronous communications, and scaling patterns.

• Daily utilization of LLMs and agentic AI tools.

• Extensive backend expertise and familiarity with modern frontend frameworks; React.js is preferred.

• Proficiency in Agile and Lean methodologies.

• Experience with Docker-based, cloud-native environments.

• Familiarity with AWS.

• Proven track record of delivering performant, elegant, user-facing products.

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

• Experience in shipping production code weekly or more frequently.

• History of being accountable for systems or projects developed by multiple team members, including handling production incidents.
