Tech Lead, Android Core Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of significant features and collaborate with the design team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality app functionalities.

• Influence the future direction of the Android team.

• Own, monitor, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.

• Engage in discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.

• Review pull requests and provide support to fellow team members.

• Address critical issues and navigate unexpected challenges.

• Take responsibility for feature releases and supply nightly builds for the QA team.

• Develop and enhance Speechify's Android text-to-speech application utilized by millions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• Familiar with Android components.

• Experience in building or contributing to at least one Android application.

• Possess product design intuition and user empathy.

• Ambition to advance the boundaries of Android UI/UX.

• Comprehension of the significance of testing and approaches for writing tests.

• Self-motivation to enhance the app and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.

• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.

• Exceptional communication abilities.

• User-focused problem-solving mindset.

• Motivated by continuous feedback from leadership.

• Bonus: Experience in building, maintaining, or contributing to open-source projects in Android.

• Bonus: Familiarity with iOS, Web, or NodeJS.
