Team Lead – System Studies

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Conduct and oversee comprehensive electrical studies primarily for utility clients, aiding in substation design projects.

• Guide and support team members in their professional growth and career aspirations.

• Execute reviews and quality assurance/control for electrical studies that assist design teams.

• Offer regulatory compliance services throughout various project design phases, from initial design to project testing and commissioning.

• Develop study templates, methodologies, and best practices for conducting electrical system studies.

• Act as a subject matter expert for inquiries related to study software and troubleshoot related issues.

• Verify or execute detailed designs of electrical power systems, which include diagrams, control and relay schematics, wiring, SCADA, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding, equipment specifications, cost estimates, and scheduling.

• Create project documentation and reports, including proposals, cost estimates, and budget reports.

• Facilitate client interactions, communications, and meetings.

• Occasionally assist with equipment, control systems, communications, troubleshooting, relay field testing, startup, and commissioning processes.

• Stay informed about and apply relevant codes and standards.

• Foster strong relationships with clients while upholding high ethical and professional standards.

• Participate in conferences, training workshops, seminars, and classes as necessary or required.

• Attend safety training and adhere to safety rules and guidelines.

• Help shape the future direction of NEI’s System Studies practice and contribute to technical standards.

• Mentor and nurture high-performing engineers, driving innovation in power system analysis methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; electric power option is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience.

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is required; Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.

• Knowledgeable in medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls.

• Proficient in one or more industry-standard power system analysis software packages, such as PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, Easypower, Aspen, Windmil, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS, PSSe, PSLF, Cymcap, or PSCAD.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and people skills.

• Candidates must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

• Ability to lift 25 lbs.
