This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead and mentor a team of AML analysts through coaching, regular one-on-one meetings, constructive feedback, and career development discussions.
• Communicate both team and company objectives, assist analysts in managing their workloads, and adjust to evolving priorities.
• Review and authorize high-priority or complex investigations in alignment with internal AML policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor team performance metrics such as case turnaround times and quality assurance scores, analyze trends, and address any process or workflow deficiencies.
• Utilize and provide training for the team on blockchain analytics tools.
• Assist analysts with escalations and technical problem-solving.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert in traditional fiat and/or cryptocurrency financial crimes.
• Keep up-to-date with AML typologies, regulatory developments, and emerging risks.
• Suggest and test improvements to alerts, casework, and risk strategies related to fiat and cryptocurrency activities.
• Provide proactive updates to stakeholders, escalate issues as necessary, and ensure follow-through to resolution.
• Lead knowledge-sharing and calibration sessions, support ongoing training initiatives, and identify opportunities for team growth.
• Over 4 years of experience in AML/CTF.
• More than 2 years of practical crypto AML experience, such as working at a cryptocurrency exchange, blockchain analytics provider, or fintech offering digital assets.
• 1 to 2+ years in a team leadership position, coaching or managing direct reports within an operational setting.
• Subject-matter expertise in AML controls, typologies, and compliance frameworks, including FATF and FINTRAC.
• Direct experience in conducting investigations and preparing, filing, and reviewing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), Large Virtual Currency Transaction Reports (LVCTR), Electronic Funds Transfer Reports (EFTR), and other regulatory filings.
• Proven success in meeting SLAs, overseeing quality assurance, and driving process enhancements.
• Proficient with crypto on-chain analytics tools such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, and Elliptic.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Certification in Chainalysis, TRM Labs, Elliptic, or financial crime designations such as CAMS, CFE, or CFCS is desirable.
• Experience at a regulated cryptocurrency exchange or blockchain analytics firm is a plus.
