
Tax Senior β Sales, Use and Incentives

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Lead the compliance, planning, and controversy efforts related to sales and use tax.
β’ Monitor changes in indirect tax laws and advise on their impact on the business.
β’ Identify opportunities for tax optimization, reduction of exposure, and recovery of refunds.
β’ Support initiatives for remediation, controversies, corrective filings, technology transformation, and process improvements.
β’ Manage exemptions and incentives related to sales and use tax for data center operations and various state credit programs.
β’ Identify qualifying company activities and analyze the necessary supporting documentation.
β’ Assist in the preparation of claims and filings.
β’ Prepare and review calculations, tax forms, memoranda, executive summaries, and provide support for audit responses.
β’ Monitor developments in legislation and regulation to identify new incentive opportunities.
β’ Define project deliverables, track their status, and report on tax initiatives.
β’ Build strong relationships across Infrastructure, Finance, Legal, and business teams.
β’ Coordinate workstreams and offer guidance among teams.
β’ Research business operations to customize tax strategies.
β’ Communicate potential opportunities and risks to internal stakeholders.
β’ Liaise with tax advisors and state and local authorities.
β’ Report directly to the Director of Indirect Tax.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
β’ Over 3 years of experience in sales and use tax.
β’ Proven experience in sales and use tax compliance, planning, or controversy work.
β’ Experience in preparing technical analyses, credit calculations, tax forms, memoranda, executive summaries, or audit response materials.
β’ Strong technical expertise in sales/use tax and credits & incentives disciplines.
β’ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Keen attention to detail and high-quality work output.
β’ Capacity to lead projects or workstreams while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
β’ Strong influencing skills and the confidence to challenge existing processes.
β’ Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
β’ Strong complex problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
β’ Public accounting experience or equivalent is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with state and local credits and incentives programs is preferred.
β’ Experience with tax research tools such as CCH, Hein, Lexis, or RIA is preferred.
β’ Experience with tax incentives related to data centers is preferred.
β’ Licensed CPA, CPA-eligible, licensed attorney, or Enrolled Agent is preferred.
