This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Prepare and oversee federal, state, and local tax filings for a varied client base, focusing primarily on Partnerships (Form 1065), S-Corporations (Form 1120-S), C-Corporations (Form 1120), and intricate individual (Form 1040) returns, schedules, and workpapers.
• Evaluate less complex business and individual returns completed by offshore teams for technical accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
• Perform comprehensive tax research on complex technical matters.
• Draft responses to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities and provide assistance during tax audits.
• Manage client engagements from the collection of documents to final submission, ensuring deadlines are met and coordinating internal project support.
• Offer guidance and technical assistance to fellow team members.
• Foster professional client relationships, gather essential data, and communicate tax implications and filing status effectively.
• Contribute to the company Knowledge Base by providing client FAQs and Best Practices.
• 3–6 years of experience in tax preparation, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related discipline.
• Advanced qualifications (e.g. CAP, EA) in progress are required; completion is preferred.
• Proficiency with efficiency, workflow, communication, and tax preparation software, including G-Suite, CRM platforms, and UltraTax.
• Understanding of corporate and personal tax planning strategies.
• Additional experience in accounting, financial advisory, and/or consulting services is a plus.
• Capability to manage projects autonomously and take ownership of complex results.
• Exceptional attention to detail in a high-volume, deadline-oriented setting.
• Ability to articulate complex tax issues verbally to clients and in written research memos and review notes.
• Skill in enhancing and streamlining existing workflow processes.
• Proficiency in managing communication and resolving issues with external teams, including offshore partners.
