This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Manage all facets of tax compliance, reporting, planning, and strategy for the firm and its clients.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise the tax department team, which includes senior and staff accountants.
• Oversee performance management, delegation, training, and the professional development of staff.
• Cultivate a collaborative, high-performing culture that emphasizes accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the precise and timely preparation and review of federal, state, local, and relevant international tax returns.
• Guarantee compliance for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
• Monitor filing deadlines, review returns and workpapers, and uphold quality control standards.
• Develop and execute tax planning strategies for business owners and high-net-worth individuals, covering entity structuring, transactions, and projections.
• Act as a subject matter expert on complex tax issues and oversee technical tax research and documentation.
• Track changes in tax legislation and communicate their implications to clients and internal teams.
• Manage federal and state tax audits, liaise with tax authorities, and guide clients through resolution and appeals processes.
• Oversee income tax provisions under ASC 740, including deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, and audit coordination.
• Identify and implement process enhancements while leveraging tax technology to boost efficiency, accuracy, and data management.
• Engage in client interactions and collaborate closely with firm leadership.
• Provide tailored tax solutions and strengthen long-term relationships with clients.
• Williams & Nulle merged with Archer Lewis in 2025, blending local CPA services with national accounting and advisory expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• An active CPA license is mandatory.
• A Master’s degree in Taxation (MST or MTax) is strongly preferred.
• Must embrace AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, innovation, and client service.
• A continuous commitment to professional education and maintenance of active licensure is required.
• A minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive tax accounting experience is necessary.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role is preferred.
• Experience in a public accounting firm or a large corporate tax department is highly desired.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with business owners, executives, or senior leadership.
• Advanced understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and reporting obligations.
• Strong proficiency in tax preparation software, such as CCH, Thomson Reuters, or GoSystem.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel preferred.
• Experience with tax research platforms, workflow management systems, and financial statement review is highly desirable.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or possess other unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship will not be provided.
