This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute regulatory and tax reporting tasks for mutual funds to align with client fund objectives.
• Generate projected year-end income and capital gain distribution estimates.
• Compile work papers for Subchapter M and Excise tax provisions.
• Calculate fund distribution obligations pertaining to income and excise requirements.
• Produce tax work papers and distribution analyses for mutual funds.
• Assess the tax status of fund investments and pinpoint discrepancies between book and tax records.
• Examine general ledger accounts to advance tax account roll forwards and identify items necessitating distinct tax treatment from book records.
• Research and evaluate federal and state tax regulations, laws, and court rulings for presentation to management.
• Collaborate with the financial administration team to create tax and regulatory compliance reports for regulatory agencies, the board of directors, and financial officers.
• Stay updated on IRS tax law requirements.
• Collect information for external audit firms, regulatory bodies, IRS inquiries, and both formal and informal audits.
• Work with the financial administration department to assess tax implications related to investment activities.
• Communicate with regulatory agencies and audit firms for general inquiries, issue resolution, and reporting requirements.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as necessary and assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, tax, accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• 0–2 years of experience in taxation and mutual fund administration.
• Comparable education and experience will be taken into account.
• Familiarity with tax laws and procedures relevant to investment companies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Competence in Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong creative and critical thinking skills for problem-solving.
• Capable of multitasking with strong analytical and organizational skills.
