Senior Tax Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Prepare and review projected year-end income and capital gain distributions.

• Create and evaluate Subchapter M and Excise tax provision work papers.

• Calculate fund distribution requirements to meet income and excise obligations.

• Develop tax work papers and distribution analyses for mutual funds.

• Assess the fund tax status of investments and identify discrepancies between book and tax treatments.

• Examine complex general ledger accounts to roll forward tax accounts and spot items needing different tax treatment than book treatment.

• Train the fund administration team on departmental workflow processes.

• Conduct limited preliminary product reviews to ensure compliance with departmental guidelines.

• Investigate and analyze federal and state tax laws, regulations, and regulatory decisions or rulings.

• Collaborate with financial administration on tax and regulatory compliance reporting.

• Stay updated on IRS tax law requirements.

• Collect information for IRS and auditor requests during audits.

• Serve as a second-level escalation point and resolve issues as necessary.

• Mentor associates through instruction, coaching, on-the-job experiences, and advice.

• Offer daily guidance to tax associates and Tax Administrator I personnel.

• Work together with financial administration regarding the tax implications of investment activities.

• Communicate with regulatory agencies and audit firms concerning information, issue resolution, inquiries, and reporting obligations.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, tax, accounting, finance, or a related field.

• 3-5 years of experience in mutual fund taxation and fund administration.

• Equivalent education and experience will be taken into account.

• Understanding of tax laws and procedures relevant to investment companies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.

• Strong multitasking, analytical, and organizational abilities.

• Strategic, detail-oriented, proactive approach with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.

• Capability to plan and delegate work effectively.

• Ability to troubleshoot issues using both creative and critical thinking skills.

• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

• Flexibility to adjust priorities and deadlines in response to changing conditions.
