Tax Director – State and Local Tax

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and execute income tax and indirect tax consulting as well as compliance projects for a diverse range of clients and sectors.

• Perform nexus studies, taxability assessments, and exposure evaluations.

• Provide guidance to clients regarding multi-state income tax and indirect tax matters, including audit defense and voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs).

• Conduct research and interpret state tax statutes, regulations, and decisions.

• Spot opportunities for tax savings, enhancements in processes, and risk reduction.

• Lead and mentor junior staff, offering coaching, constructive feedback, and technical training.

• Establish and nurture strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.

• Work in conjunction with other tax and advisory service lines to explore cross-functional opportunities.

• Assist in business development initiatives, including proposal creation and networking efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related area.

• Over 9 years of experience in public accounting or industry, concentrating on state and local tax matters.

• In-depth understanding of multi-state tax regulations and compliance requirements.

• Demonstrated experience in managing engagements and overseeing staff.

• Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving capabilities.

• CPA, JD, or MST designation preferred.

• Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous.
