Taishanese VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls professionally, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the interpreter's field, particularly in healthcare and medical contexts. Training will be provided.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages without adding, omitting, or substituting information.

• Deliver exceptional customer service during interpretation sessions.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing accurate and complete message interpretations.

• Implement standards of practice in all interpretations.

• Participate in internal professional training programs.

• Demonstrate a willingness to pursue new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Taishanese".

• At least 1 year of telephone interpretation experience with a reputable interpretation company is advantageous, though not essential.

• A solid understanding of medical terminology is beneficial but not required.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is a plus.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are advantageous (PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Strong emotional intelligence and appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent skills in communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention.
