Systems Engineer Co-Op – Algorithms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Execute and evaluate modeling and simulation of algorithmic models utilizing Simulink and MATLAB.

• Record equations, derivations, and create visual representations in MATLAB.

• Conduct data and statistical analyses.

• Participate in lab-based activities related to target products.

• Assess algorithms and models for the JPALS program.

• Create tools to facilitate comprehensive testing.

• Manage multiple tasks within a software development setting.

• Perform system troubleshooting and analysis.

• Enhance code quality through code reviews and effective software practices.

• Operate independently under minimal supervision or collaboratively with teams to meet operational objectives.

• Engage and collaborate with stakeholders both within and outside the job function.

• Potentially offer guidance, mentorship, and training to fellow employees.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in a STEM major and actively enrolled until the internship/co-op period concludes.

• Expertise in MATLAB, covering code optimization and numerical stability.

• Familiarity with the systems engineering field.

• Experience in interpreting and developing algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system-level analysis.

• Proven computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory as only U.S. citizens qualify for a security clearance.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.

• An active and existing DoD Secret security clearance is required from day one.

• Experience with complex statistical analysis and/or mathematical modeling is preferred.

• Familiarity with model-driven design using Simulink is preferred.

• Experience in data analysis and problem-solving, such as anomaly detection, is preferred.
