System Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Oversee systems and services to guarantee high availability, performance, and reliability for mission-critical applications.

• Diagnose and resolve production challenges by utilizing logs, metrics, and root-cause analysis.

• Conduct patching, upgrades, backups, and testing of recovery procedures.

• Assist in incident management, including triage, escalation, and providing status updates to stakeholders.

• Uphold configuration management, version control practices, and change documentation.

• Design, implement, and sustain servers, middleware, and integration components.

• Collaborate on enhancements related to automation and infrastructure-as-code.

• Oversee compute, storage, networking, and security configurations across cloud and/or on-premises environments.

• Enhance services, databases, and application settings.

• Facilitate integrations across policy administration, billing, claims, accounting, reporting, and CRM systems.

• Verify data flows, mappings, file transfers, API connectivity, and scheduled tasks.

• Create or maintain scripts and automation workflows.

• Coordinate resolutions for integration failures and data discrepancies.

• Adhere to security and compliance protocols while maintaining technical documentation.

• Engage in standups, planning meetings, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Support knowledge transfer and the onboarding of new team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a System Engineer, Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, or in a similar position.

• Strong proficiency in Linux and/or Windows server administration, basic networking, and troubleshooting methods.

• Practical experience in monitoring and incident triage utilizing logs, metrics, and alerting tools.

• Understanding of databases and data management principles, including SQL, backup/recovery, and performance fundamentals.

• Experience with integrations such as APIs, file transfers, scheduled tasks, middleware, or ETL workflows.

• Keen attention to detail and the ability to adhere to procedures.

• Strong English communication skills.

• Comfortable using ticketing/ITSM tools and keeping precise service and change records.

• Reliable internet connection and a conducive home office setting.

• Capability to work efficiently with remote or international teams.

• Preferred: experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and knowledge of security configurations.

• Preferred: familiarity with Python/Bash, Ansible, or Terraform.

• Preferred: experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment support.

• Preferred: understanding of insurance and/or accounting business processes.

• Preferred: certifications such as AWS Certified, Azure fundamentals/associate, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.

• Preferred: experience with observability tools and performance monitoring.

• Preferred: background in supporting regulated environments with audit and compliance considerations.
