SVP, Mortgage Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for comprehensive Mortgage Operations across both retail and wholesale sectors.

• Analyze the operating model through data and a thorough end-to-end process examination.

• Formulate and implement an operational transformation strategy emphasizing simplification, standardization, scalability, automation, and quantifiable enhancements.

• Design and integrate responsible AI and intelligent automation within fulfillment workflows.

• Deploy automation capabilities at a production scale and revamp roles and staffing structures.

• Set AI-proficiency expectations and oversee adoption and results as performance indicators.

• Optimize the current loan origination and technology setup through process redesign and workflow automation.

• Establish performance benchmarks, service levels, KPIs, dashboards, operating rhythms, and capacity assessments.

• Collaborate with Technology, Product, Data, Quality Control, Risk, Compliance, Capital Markets, and channel leadership.

• Ensure adherence to FHA, Ginnie Mae, investor, securitization, regulatory, quality, and Company mandates.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives for process redesign aimed at enhancing cycle time, cost per loan, throughput, quality, and capacity.

• Assess initiatives based on measurable business outcomes and data-driven prioritization.

• Foster accountability, adaptability, continuous learning, and evidence-based decision-making.

• Achieve first-year goals such as reduced production costs and cycle time, implementation of AI automation, measurable performance standards, and an organizational design that meets 2027 volume targets with the current workforce.

• Report directly to the Chief Operations Officer, FAR.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mortgage operations, lending operations, financial services, banking, fintech, or a closely related field, with substantial senior leadership roles.

• Proven experience in leading a large, multi-functional operations or fulfillment organization through functional leaders in a regulated lending or financial services setting.

• A track record of transforming and modernizing operational functions with measurable enhancements in cycle time, unit cost, productivity, capacity, throughput, quality, and/or customer experience.

• Experience with at least one transformation achieving a 25%+ improvement in unit cost or cycle time.

• Practical experience in implementing AI, intelligent automation, workflow technology, or similar digital capabilities in core operational processes at a production scale, demonstrating measurable productivity or unit-cost impact.

• Strong understanding of mortgage fulfillment functions, including processing, underwriting, appraisal, closing, funding, post-closing, and securitization loan-level diligence.

• Knowledge of relevant regulatory and investor requirements.

• Ability to establish and manage performance through data analysis, KPIs, service standards, dashboards, reporting, forecasting, and consistent management practices.

• Experience in driving operational change utilizing an existing technology stack through process redesign and automation.

• Technical fluency to collaborate effectively with Technology, Engineering, Data, and Product leaders and assess build-versus-buy decisions.

• Executive leadership skills including leadership assessment, coaching, organizational design, change management, succession planning, and the development of high-performing teams.

• Sound judgment in balancing operational speed, innovation, customer experience, regulatory compliance, investor obligations, risk management, and quality.

• Experience managing teams in a geographically distributed or remote work setting.

• Proficient communication skills with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders.

• An evidence-based, adaptable approach to complex operational challenges and significant organizational changes.

• A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field.
