Supply Chain Manager – Capital Equipment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement sourcing strategies for significant capital equipment, including transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, inverters, solar modules, RMUs, and associated electrical balance-of-plant equipment.

• Manage RFPs, RFQs, bid evaluations, supplier comparisons, commercial analyses, and award recommendations.

• Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, payment conditions, warranties, commercial terms, purchase order specifications, framework agreements, contract modifications, and change orders.

• Issue, oversee, and monitor purchase orders and supplier commitments.

• Synchronize project pipeline forecasts with supplier capabilities, production schedules, long-lead procurement needs, and equipment allocations.

• Maintain trackers for equipment allocation, pipeline/supply alignment models, procurement schedules, commodity tracking files, inventory visibility tools, and supply chain risk registers.

• Monitor market trends and commodity drivers impacting equipment, materials, shipping, tariffs, domestic content obligations, FEOC exposure, and regulatory or supply market considerations.

• Establish and nurture supplier relationships with OEMs, manufacturers, logistics providers, and key capital equipment suppliers.

• Evaluate supplier performance based on cost, quality, responsiveness, delivery, documentation, and commercial standards.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Development, Construction, Legal, Finance, Asset Management, senior leadership, and external suppliers.

• Create sourcing recommendations, project procurement updates, supplier updates, market intelligence summaries, procurement dashboards, and executive reporting documents.

• Identify supply chain risks and formulate mitigation strategies, including supplier diversification, proactive procurement planning, alternative sourcing, capacity reservations, and contingency measures.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or a related discipline.

• 5–10+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, strategic sourcing, commercial management, or capital equipment procurement.

• Proven experience in procuring capital equipment for renewable energy, power generation, utilities, EPC, infrastructure, manufacturing, or industrial projects.

• Demonstrated expertise in purchase orders, supplier negotiations, commercial analysis, contract terms, and supplier relationship management.

• Experience negotiating directly with OEMs and manufacturers.

• Strong analytical abilities with advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Familiarity with planning, forecasting, commodity tracking, or procurement management tools.

• Capacity to collaborate across functions with technical, commercial, legal, finance, construction, and project execution teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to present recommendations to senior leadership.

• Willingness to overlap with West Coast business hours.

• Experience with BESS, solar, microgrids, transformers, switchgear, or electrical infrastructure.

• Familiarity with ERP, procurement, inventory, project controls, or supply chain planning systems is preferred.

• MBA, CPSM, C.P.M., APICS, or similar procurement/supply chain certification is preferred.

• Preference for candidates located on the West Coast of the United States but not a strict requirement.
