Supplier Quality Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.

📋 Description

• Assist in supplier quality initiatives to fulfill operational and strategic quality objectives for suppliers.

• Forge relationships with external suppliers, customers, and internal teams such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Engineering.

• Utilize APQP processes, AIAG tools, and Cummins-specific tools to enhance or refine external supplier manufacturing processes.

• Engage in external supplier audits and may lead low-complexity, low-risk audits once certified as an auditor.

• Take part in addressing external supplier quality issues.

• Aid in root cause analysis, the development of corrective actions, and the assessment of corrective action effectiveness.

• Contribute to ongoing improvement projects utilizing lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

• Involve in quality performance planning and enhancement for designated product types or supplier segments.

• Potentially oversee low-complexity, low-risk quality planning and improvement efforts after acquiring experience.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

• At least 8 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Product Quality, or similar areas.

• Preferred experience in the automotive, commercial vehicle, engine, powertrain, off-highway, industrial equipment, or related sectors.

• Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes.

• Understanding of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) tools.

• Knowledge of Cummins specialty tools.

• Proficient auditing skills and understanding of Quality Management Systems.

• Awareness of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles and Engineering Standards.

• Knowledge of manufacturing technologies, methods, techniques, tools, and equipment.

• Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, Source Release, and PPAP applications.

• Familiarity with measurement technology and system design.

• Strong systematic problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.

• Knowledge of quality standards including ISO9001:2015 and IATF16949.

• Proficiency in statistical tools and techniques.

• A college, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific discipline is required.

• May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
