This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee and coordinate the design of protection, control, and metering systems for electrical substations (12 kV to 500 kV).

• Assume responsibility for project-level deliverables, ensuring they meet quality standards, completeness, and align with client and project specifications.

• Act as Project Lead for designated projects.

• Create and assess one-line diagrams, protection schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Lead the development of panel layouts and interconnection drawings.

• Prepare and evaluate engineering documents, specifications, and construction packages.

• Assist in formulating outage staging, inspection, and testing plans.

• Provide technical guidance and conduct design reviews of work completed by Engineers-in-Training (EITs) and designers.

• Support construction and commissioning processes, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on-site.

• Participate in and lead factory acceptance testing (FAT) and inspections.

• Serve as a technical liaison for clients, facilitating design reviews, constructability discussions, and project coordination.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive and well-coordinated designs.

• Enhance project delivery by managing the scope, schedule, and budget for assigned work packages.

• Contribute to ongoing improvements, quality assurance, and the establishment of internal standards and best practices.

• Mentor and assist in the development of junior engineers and designers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in utility protection, control, and metering design, ideally within transmission and distribution projects.

• Proven experience in leading design projects and coordinating technical deliverables.

• Familiarity with substation protection and control systems, including relaying schemes, AC/DC schematics, and station design methodologies.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities with a knack for developing practical, technically sound solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively interfacing with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

• Demonstrated ability to lead tasks, prioritize effectively, and achieve results in a deadline-driven environment.

• Proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD.
