Substation Protection & Control Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design relay, protection, and control projects for high voltage substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV under the guidance of the Electrical Project Lead.

• Develop substation relay one-line and three-line diagrams.

• Create AC/DC schematics.

• Generate substation panel layouts.

• Produce substation wiring diagrams and cable schedules.

• Prepare SCADA and communication diagrams.

• Develop point-to-point wiring diagrams.

• Collaborate with physical, settings, and drafting disciplines to guarantee high-quality deliverables.

• Interpret and integrate vendor information into design outputs.

• Adhere to client standards relevant to the project.

• Implement and ensure compliance with company QA/QC processes for all design packages.

• Commit to continuous improvement in job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• AA degree or High School Diploma.

• Experience in substation (transmission) design.

• Over 3 years of detailed wiring design experience, including the development of single lines, schematics, and relay panels.

• More than 3 years of experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation.

• Proficient understanding of AC/DC control diagrams to accurately execute point-to-point wiring requirements.

• Capability to assist lead engineers with initial design specifications.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Word.

• Knowledgeable in NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI industry standards.

• Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for creating technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
