Substation Protection & Control Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design relay, protection, and control projects for high voltage substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV under the guidance of the Electrical Project Lead.

• Develop Substation Relay One Lines and Three Lines.

• Create AC/DC Schematics.

• Design Substation Panel Layouts.

• Generate Substation Wiring Diagrams and Cable Schedules.

• Prepare SCADA and Communication Diagrams.

• Construct Point to Point Wiring Diagrams.

• Collaborate with physical, settings, and drafting teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.

• Analyze and integrate vendor information into design outputs.

• Adhere to client standards relevant to the project.

• Execute and verify that company QA/QC procedures are applied to all design packages.

• Commit to continuously enhancing job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• AA degree or High School Diploma.

• Experience in substation (transmission) design.

• Over 3 years of detailed wiring design experience, including the development of single lines, schematics, and relay panels.

• More than 3 years of experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation.

• Understanding of AC/DC control diagrams to accurately execute point-to-point wiring requirements.

• Capability to assist lead engineers with initial design specifications.

• Proficient user of Microsoft products, particularly Excel and Word.

• Familiarity with the practical application of industry standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.

• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for producing technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.
