Substation CAD Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Utilize AutoCAD or comparable CAD software to create moderately complex substation design drawings with minimal supervision.

• Implement EVS drafting standards and processes to efficiently and accurately complete assigned tasks.

• Review work for precision and compliance with quality protocols.

• Collaborate with drafters, engineers, and other team members to facilitate project development.

• Engage in improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing design quality and efficiency.

• Aid in addressing design challenges through research and basic problem-solving techniques.

• Assist in tracking documents and managing project documentation.

• Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium- and high-voltage substation projects.

• Create General Arrangement drawings, Site Plans, and Elevation Views.

• Develop Grounding Plans and associated Details.

• Generate Conduit Plans, Trench Plans, and relevant Details.

• Design and layout Lightning Protection systems.

• Create Illumination Design, Plans, and Details.

• Prepare Bills of Materials.

• Maintain a keen attention to detail while effectively managing time and meeting deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Foundational knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting software.

• A basic understanding of design principles and electrical substation components is preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to quickly learn new concepts.

• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid or remote team setting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
