Commercial Furniture Designer – Space Planning Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design commercial furniture layouts and spatial plans in accordance with client specifications, architectural drawings, and project needs.

• Create and adjust floor plans, furniture arrangements, and associated drawings utilizing AutoCAD.

• Develop furniture specifications and configurations using CET Commercial Interiors, Spec Configura, 2020 CAP, or similar tools.

• Generate furniture quotations, pricing documents, and project proposals.

• Specify furniture items, finishes, fabrics, accessories, and additional components.

• Analyze architectural plans and field data to determine suitable furniture solutions.

• Prepare comprehensive bills of materials and detailed product specifications.

• Liaise with manufacturers, dealers, vendors, and suppliers to discuss product availability, specifications, lead times, and pricing.

• Assist in product research and identify alternative furniture options.

• Ensure that specifications and drawings are accurate and align with client-approved designs.

• Review manufacturer catalogs, technical documents, and pricing information.

• Modify drawings, specifications, and proposals based on received feedback.

• Maintain well-organized project files, drawings, specifications, quotes, and related documentation.

• Collaborate with sales representatives, project managers, designers, and other team members throughout the project lifecycle.

• Identify potential specification or installation issues prior to finalizing orders.

• Aid in order preparation and confirm furniture configurations and product selections.

• Oversee multiple commercial projects while adhering to deadlines and ensuring accuracy.

• Perform other related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in English (both written and spoken).

• Prior experience in commercial furniture, interior design, space planning, furniture specification, or a related area.

• Proficient in AutoCAD.

• Familiarity with CET Commercial Interiors / Configura CET.

• Experience with Spec Configura, 2020 CAP, or similar furniture specification and quotation software.

• Strong knowledge of commercial furniture systems and space-planning principles.

• Experience in preparing furniture specifications, quotations, proposals, bills of materials, and detailed product specifications.

• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and floor plans.

• Strong attention to detail, especially regarding product numbers, dimensions, finishes, and pricing.

• Experience working with commercial furniture manufacturers or dealerships.

• Familiarity with major commercial furniture manufacturers and their product lines.

• Knowledge of various environments such as workplace, corporate, healthcare, education, hospitality, or other commercial furniture settings.

• Experience assisting sales teams with furniture proposals and quotations.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office / Excel, PDF management tools, and furniture manufacturer specification and pricing platforms.

• Familiarity with 2020 CAP is preferred but not mandatory.

• Strong organizational and project management capabilities.

• Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities concurrently.

• Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Quick to learn new systems, software, and workflows.

• Ability to accurately follow established processes.

• Availability to work during U.S. EST (New York) business hours.
