This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Conduct comprehensive material and quantity takeoffs for structural metal fabrication projects.
• Examine drawings, specifications, and project documents to ascertain project scope.
• Create precise bids, estimates, and pricing proposals.
• Evaluate material, labor, fabrication, and project costs.
• Prepare submittals, revisions, and responses to RFIs.
• Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients regarding project needs and pricing.
• Communicate directly with vendors and clients via phone when required.
• Assist in pre-construction activities and coordination with subcontractors.
• Oversee multiple estimates and project deadlines concurrently.
• Operate within the client's internal job tracking and AI-driven quoting system.
• Work remotely with Mark VeRost and the senior estimator to review estimates and enhance accuracy.
• Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and potential cost risks prior to bid submissions.
• Maintain well-organized estimating documentation and project records.
• Adapt to client-specific processes, systems, and software.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural fabrication estimating.
• Extensive background in takeoffs, bid preparation, and cost estimation.
• Experience in structural steel, custom metal fabrication, or related heavy fabrication fields.
• High attention to detail with a demonstrated focus on estimate accuracy.
• Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Consistent full-time availability for 40 hours per week.
• Comfortable utilizing remote client systems and software.
• Must be able to work within the US Eastern Time Zone.
• Open to a month-to-month employment arrangement.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working without continuous oversight.
• Experience with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar estimating, takeoff, or construction management platforms is preferable.
• Familiarity with wastewater treatment projects, skids, heavy structural projects, complex custom fabrication, structural steel, miscellaneous metals, US-based construction or fabrication projects, or distributed teams is advantageous.
• A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical/trade experience is preferred.
• Remote work arrangement.
