Structural Engineer – Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee structural engineering projects from initiation through design, coordination, delivery, and finalization.

• Facilitate communication among clients, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, fabricators, detailers, and erectors.

• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, deliverables, and engineering hours efficiently.

• Proactively identify and address project risks, RFIs, design modifications, scope alterations, technical challenges, and change orders.

• Design, analyze, and assess structural systems while offering technical guidance and oversight.

• Evaluate calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering outputs for precision, quality, and adherence to codes.

• Coordinate structural engineering specifications with detailing, fabrication, erection, architectural, and other disciplines.

• Lead project meetings and communicate updates on project status, priorities, risks, and decisions made.

• Assist in preparing proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, schedules, and project strategies.

• Mentor junior engineers and technical personnel while fostering quality, efficiency, and ongoing improvement.

• Cultivate strong client relationships through responsive communication and successful project execution.

• Engage in projects that are designed according to CISC and AISC standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration.

• A minimum of 4+ years of structural engineering experience, with proven project coordination or management roles.

• Strong expertise in structural steel design and construction practices.

• Experience in managing project timelines, deliverables, budgets, and client communications.

• Familiarity with relevant Canadian building codes and structural design standards.

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Willingness and ability to travel to the United States as needed.

• Strong foundation in structural engineering with knowledge of building codes, design standards, materials, and construction methods.

• Demonstrated capability to oversee engineering projects, timelines, budgets, priorities, and multidisciplinary teams.

• In-depth knowledge of structural steel design, detailing, fabrication, and erection processes.

• Capacity to balance technical demands with constructability, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.

• Commercial awareness regarding project costs, engineering hours, timelines, and profitability.

• Experience collaborating with architects, consultants, contractors, steel fabricators, detailers, and erectors is advantageous.

• Proficiency in Tekla Structural Designer, Excel, IDEA StatiCa, Bluebeam, RISA Suite, Revit, or RAM Connection is beneficial.
