Structural Engineer Inspector – Travel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +30 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct field observations and inspections of structural components in buildings and other structures.

• Act as a Special Inspector as defined by the International Building Code for relevant projects.

• Create well-structured and clearly written inspection reports.

• Support project design teams as needed.

• Analyze and assess field conditions along with laboratory reports.

• Perform site visits and document relevant field conditions through photography for report purposes.

• Record observations and project inconsistencies, working alongside the Structural Engineer of Record to facilitate remedial actions.

• Review shop drawings and provide feedback to the Structural Engineer of Record.

• Assist with information requests, interpretation of test results, and contractor change orders.


⛳️ Requirements

• An associate's degree or certificate in Engineering, or equivalent, is preferred.

• Experience is not required; however, one year of experience is preferred.

• Previous experience in structural inspection or the building design consulting field is preferred.

• Possession of, or a desire to obtain, a recognized certification related to Structural Inspection is preferred.

• Ability to read and comprehend construction documentation, including drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.

• Capacity to manage and organize one’s own schedule to ensure timely service delivery on assigned projects.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Willingness to embrace new challenges.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays.
