This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Assess losses and investigate loss scenes at both residential and commercial properties.
• Perform investigations to ascertain and record the extent of damage.
• Examine and evaluate damages resulting from failures, determining the source of failure for insurers and legal support.
• Analyze and document failure analysis along with the causation of failures.
• Collaborate with Fire Investigators to create thorough reports detailing the causes and origins of losses and damages.
• Act as an expert witness in court proceedings and/or depositions.
• Record and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for forensic engineering assignments.
• Work in partnership with EFI’s national team of forensic specialists on various projects.
• Provide detailed engineering analyses to clients across diverse industries.
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is mandatory.
• A Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida is essential.
• A minimum of six (6) years of experience or a suitable combination of education and experience is required.
• Practical experience in identifying causes of structural failures is necessary.
• Familiarity with storm and roof damage assessments is preferred.
• Experience in conducting building envelope investigations is advantageous.
• Background in evaluating structural collapses is required.
• Capability to stand and/or walk for extended periods is necessary.
• Ability to kneel, squat, bend, stoop, reach/work overhead, climb, and crawl is essential.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, both hot and cold.
• Capacity to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to push/pull weights up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to drive for up to 4 hours each day.
