Strategic Services Associate – Hospital Coding

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Lead and implement performance enhancement initiatives in both operational and clinical settings.

• Ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory and accreditation requirements through effective monitoring and strategic execution.

• Conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses to support strategic, operational, clinical, and financial decision-making.

• Produce regular and one-off analyses utilizing internal data alongside external benchmarking resources.

• Execute data extraction and analysis from Vizient, focusing on benchmarking, utilization, cost, quality, clinical, and operational metrics.

• Cleanse, validate, reconcile, and manipulate extensive datasets.

• Recognize trends, anomalies, performance deficiencies, and areas for improvement.

• Create dashboards, reports, scorecards, and presentations suitable for executive review.

• Collaborate with Finance, Decision Support, Clinical Analytics, and other data teams.

• Oversee or assist with strategic and operational enhancement projects.

• Formulate project charters, work plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

• Organize cross-departmental meetings and maintain project tracking and status updates.

• Support initiatives aimed at improving physician documentation and evaluate their impacts.

• Collaborate with physicians, CDI, HIM, Coding, Revenue Cycle, and clinical leadership.

• Aid in margin enhancement initiatives through data-driven identification of opportunities and project execution.

• Analyze drivers such as revenue, expenses, utilization, productivity, supply costs, labor, reimbursement, and other performance metrics.

• Conduct strategic planning research, market evaluations, and service line planning analysis.

• Prepare executive presentations, briefing documents, dashboards, and decision-support analyses.

• Generate benchmark analyses, opportunity assessments, work plans, initiative trackers, documentation reviews, margin evaluations, realization trackers, and post-implementation performance assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a business or health-related discipline is mandatory.

• At least 5 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a role with substantial responsibilities in performance or process improvement.

• Proven experience in leading work teams is essential.

• Coding experience is highly preferred, especially in inpatient settings.

• Clinical experience is advantageous.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to engage with customers and staff from varied educational backgrounds.

• Skilled in analyzing data and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Capable of managing multiple diverse projects simultaneously through effective prioritization, time management, and organization.

• Familiarity with accreditation standards and regulations pertaining to healthcare.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Proficient in computer usage.
