Strategic Project Lead – Code

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the production system that supports Turing’s software-engineering data initiatives.

• Design and oversee data pipelines from customer specifications to final delivery, ensuring accountability for scope, timeline, and quality.

• Define and establish coding workstreams across supervised demonstrations, agentic trajectories, RL environments, benchmark construction, and rubric-based evaluation.

• Identify bottlenecks, reorganize workflows, refine instructions, create incentive systems, and enhance review processes.

• Manage quality control throughout the annotation lifecycle and address quality gaps.

• Analyze datasets for trends, anomalies, and systematic errors and address root causes.

• Implement and enhance annotation, evaluation, and curation practices.

• Coordinate with 100–1,000+ distributed software-engineering contributors.

• Define contributor profiles and collaborate with talent teams on sourcing, assessment, onboarding, and ramping.

• Manage contributor training, performance evaluation, reviewer capacity, incentives, and corrective measures.

• Develop team-lead and reviewer structures.

• Act as the primary liaison for frontier AI lab researchers and program managers.

• Convert research intent into task specifications and challenge ineffective specifications.

• Cultivate long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for expansion.

• Utilize Python, SQL, or other tools to automate quality sampling, defect classification, throughput analysis, and weekly reporting.

• Transform successful workflows into reusable playbooks, quality controls, evaluation tools, and contributor management systems.

• Share insights and mentor fellow Strategic Project Leads.

• Within 30 days, set baselines, validate controls, and independently lead a defined workstream.

• Within 90 days, achieve predictable throughput and quality while enhancing a significant operating metric.

• Within 180 days, manage concurrent programs, create reusable assets, support account expansion, and assist another lead in adopting the operating system.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in software engineering, technical program management, consulting, finance, startups, or other high-pressure operational environments.

• Demonstrated success in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.

• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

• Experience in customer-facing roles with high-profile clients, managing expectations, and building long-term relationships.

• Passion for process optimization and large-scale execution.

• Proficiency in reading and reviewing code.

• Ability to follow pull requests in Python, TypeScript, Java, or Go.

• Capability to review a test suite and independently evaluate completed tasks.

• Bonus: experience with agentic evaluation harnesses, software engineering benchmarks, or RL environments.

• Bonus: experience in managing large distributed contributor networks or marketplaces.

• Bonus: previous experience with an AI data vendor or frontier lab.
