This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska, +1 more state.
• Lead automation projects for industrial equipment within the pork sector.
• Collaborate with business partners and cross-functional teams to assess automation requirements and devise solutions.
• Create preliminary engineering designs, specifications, and project cost estimates.
• Conduct research, feasibility analyses, economic assessments, and operational evaluations.
• Establish design criteria in accordance with required standards and codes.
• Validate fieldwork and produce as-built documentation.
• Review engineering projects to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Oversee project execution by directing vendors and contractors.
• Align project schedules with plant staff, vendors, contractors, management, and engineering teams.
• Manage equipment vendor direction, layouts, utility requirements, and installation timelines.
• Evaluate consultant deliverables and recommend modifications as necessary.
• Maintain documentation such as equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical schematics, parts lists, specifications, and vendor/service contacts.
• Define the scope of work and prepare as well as evaluate requests for proposals.
• Provide detailed project reports to management by specified deadlines.
• Administer contracts and review bid packages for compliance and thoroughness.
• Prepare justifications for projects, budget analyses, calculations, plans, and timelines.
• Monitor installations to ensure compliance with proposal specifications and budget constraints.
• Manage budget activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Continuously enhance knowledge of robotics and controls to implement innovative solutions.
• Mentor and develop employees through coaching.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution in Engineering or a related field, combined with 5+ years of pertinent experience; or an equivalent mix of education and experience is required.
• Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role involving team development and management is required.
• Capability to apply sound engineering principles to both operational and design challenges.
• Familiarity with project scheduling for installation and construction.
• Strong project management skills.
• Proficient in contract administration.
• Ability to interpret national codes and standards.
• Expertise in engineering economics.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to travel to various locations up to 50% of the time.
• Understanding of engineering principles and techniques applicable to food processing and the meat industry.
• Prior experience managing multi-million-dollar projects with extensive scopes.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent skills in written and oral communication, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
• Ability to work in both office and production plant settings, including wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
