Strategic Planning Consultant – Higher Education

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead strategic planning initiatives for universities and colleges, encompassing environmental assessments, stakeholder engagement, goal setting, key performance indicators (KPIs), and implementation roadmaps.

• Assist state higher education initiatives through governance evaluations, policy analysis, and performance management frameworks.

• Conduct discovery for enrollment strategies, which includes analysis of funnels and yields, recruitment and retention operations, CRM systems like Slate, and process evaluations.

• Facilitate discussions with university presidents, leadership teams, boards of trustees/regents, faculty senates, and student groups.

• Develop the strategic plan and implementation scorecard.

• Deliver presentations to governing boards.

• Contribute to proposals by providing approach details and past-performance narratives when authorized to do so.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in higher education strategy, institutional planning/effectiveness, or enrollment management at a leadership or consulting level.

• Experience leading or co-leading at least one institution- or system-wide strategic plan through its adoption, specifying the institution, year, and role played.

• Practical experience in enrollment management, including admissions, recruitment, retention, financial aid strategy, or enrollment analytics.

• Strong facilitation skills when working with boards and senior leadership.

• Ability to produce clear written deliverables.

• Comfortable working as an independent consultant on a project basis.

• Experience with state higher education commissions or system offices (preferred).

• Familiarity with public university system governance (preferred).

• Background in accreditation or institutional effectiveness (preferred).

• Experience in healthcare or academic medical center planning (preferred).
