This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +16 more locations.
• Take ownership of Jerry’s driver-centric operating framework for the core business and enhance it for new insurance offerings and business lines.
• Manage the comprehensive annual budget and long-term planning process from start to finish.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly forecasting cycles along with variance analysis.
• Clarify financial changes compared to the plan and previous periods, along with their implications for future forecasts.
• Compose executive financial narratives for the CFO, founders, board members, and investors.
• Facilitate monthly business review sessions with key functional leaders.
• Assess and implement a planning system, including recommendations and execution.
• Develop financial models for new products, verticals, channels, and partnerships.
• Analyze market sizes, model economic factors, and assess capital commitments and returns.
• Compare actual economic outcomes with underwriting assumptions and integrate insights into future decision-making.
• Track customer acquisition costs (CAC), payback periods, policy retention, lifetime value, and contribution margins.
• Assist with corporate development, capital markets, investor initiatives, due diligence, modeling, and transaction analysis.
• Frame decisions on building, buying, or partnering while comparing return profiles.
• Underwrite vendor expenditures, construct business cases, aid in term negotiations, and ensure budget transparency.
• Report directly to the VP of Finance and collaborate closely with the CFO, founders, and functional leaders.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Ideally, at least 2 years at a respected investment bank, corporate development team, or private equity firm, combined with 2 years in strategic finance or FP&A within a high-growth company.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a similar quantitative discipline.
• Proficient financial modeling skills, including driver-driven operating models, three-statement mechanics, and scenario and sensitivity analyses.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and GAAP.
• Experience with unit economics in consumer or marketplace businesses, encompassing CAC, LTV, payback periods, cohort retention, and contribution margins.
• Proven ability to translate complex analyses into clear narratives for executive or investor audiences.
• Startup or high-growth experience is highly desirable, particularly in establishing financial processes from the ground up.
• Hands-on expertise with AI tools for analysis, research, and workflow automation.
• CFA certification, vendor negotiation or procurement experience, and familiarity with finance tech stacks are advantageous.
• Must currently reside in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MA, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, or Ontario, Canada.
