This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and take ownership of Airbnb’s Workday integration architecture standards, patterns, and governance frameworks.
• Lead architectural decisions for intricate, high-risk integrations, which include global rollouts, payroll cycles, benefits open enrollment, and system migrations.
• Assess build-versus-buy options, Workday-native versus middleware solutions, and long-term integration platform strategies.
• Establish reusable integration patterns, frameworks for error handling/retry, and standards for observability.
• Architect, design, construct, and maintain both inbound and outbound integrations using Workday Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs, Document Transforms, and RaaS APIs.
• Develop integrations utilizing Workday Web Services, including SOAP and REST protocols.
• Manage high-volume payroll, benefits, global workforce, and multi-country integration scenarios.
• Oversee Workday payroll interfaces PECI and PICOF, along with third-party payroll integrations.
• Create and sustain Custom Reports and Calculated Fields for integration and AI-tool utilization.
• Build and maintain Workday Extend applications while applying Workday Orchestrate where suitable.
• Manage integrations through Workday’s semi-annual release cycle, including sandbox testing and controlled production deployment.
• Engineer Airbnb’s Workday MCP server and agentic integrations, focusing on OAuth 2.0 authorization, human-in-the-loop controls, idempotent writes, guardrails, and audit logging.
• Co-own the architecture and governance of Talent Systems AI.
• Drive SLAs, monitoring, alerting, reconciliation, runbooks, root-cause analysis, and preventative controls.
• Oversee security, compliance, PII handling, audit controls, and data reconciliation for HR data flows.
• Manage tenant deployment strategy, Git-based version control, testing, and rollback planning.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Legal/Privacy, IT Security, Finance, enterprise architecture, vendors, and related technology teams.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pair development, and documented standards.
• Compose integration design documents, MCP tool specifications, and operational runbooks.
• Represent Talent Systems in architecture forums, AI tooling evaluations, and vendor technical discussions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 9+ years of experience in enterprise technology, software development, or systems integration.
• A minimum of 5–6 years of hands-on Workday integration development covering requirements gathering, design, construction, testing, go-live, and post-production support.
• Experience with Workday Studio for complex multi-step integrations, sub-integrations, custom error handling and fault frameworks, and XSLT transformations.
• Familiarity with Core Connectors, EIBs, Document Transform payload mapping, PECI, PICOF, RaaS, and Workday Web Services.
• Expert proficiency in XSLT, XML, and JSON; familiarity with Java for custom steps within Workday Studio.
• Working knowledge of the Business Process Framework and HR/payroll operations.
• Familiarity with Workday functional configuration across HCM, Benefits, Payroll, Security, and Time & Absence.
• Experience in REST API design and OAuth 2.0, including user-context authorization-code flows and token lifecycle management.
• Experience in building or integrating LLM-based tools, AI agents, or MCP servers with enterprise business systems.
• Experience in integrating Workday with middleware or iPaaS platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, or Workato.
• Proficiency in Git-based version control and structured deployment/change management practices.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, SAML, PGP, SFTP, PII handling, and audit requirements.
• Experience managing integrations throughout Workday’s semi-annual release cycle, including impact assessments and sandbox testing.
• Proven technical leadership in shaping architectural decisions and improving engineering quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively in unstructured, fast-paced environments.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum framework.
• Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
