Staff Threat Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Define and consistently enhance research initiatives by analyzing new attack techniques, assessing customer impact, and evaluating detection data sources across at least one operating system and major Cloud/SaaS providers.

• Examine the technical elements and detection frameworks related to specific threats to gain insights into adversary control and manipulation techniques.

• Create automated attack scripts, develop testing code to verify threat coverage, and produce proof of concept for new detection methods.

• Work in conjunction with detection engineers, intelligence analysts, and threat hunters to formulate detection strategies and prioritize deliverables.

• Record and present research outcomes and operational outputs to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Mentor team members engaged in research activities.

• Act as a technical subject matter expert on adversary tactics across endpoint, cloud, and identity environments.

• Report directly to the Manager of Threat Research within the Threat Research Team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Fundamental understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience in leveraging, securing, or promoting AI-driven solutions to enhance outcomes in your area of expertise.

• Experience with commercial Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) and/or Cloud-based detection solutions.

• Proficiency in software development using at least one scripting language (e.g., PowerShell, Python, etc.) and one compiled language (e.g., C, C++, Go, etc.).

• Security expertise with at least one cloud service provider (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and knowledge of Cloud architectures.

• Demonstrated history of public community engagement through conference presentations, blog articles, or webinars.

• Experience in code management using git/GitHub.

• Proven ability to utilize AI technologies and workflows to enhance measurable operational efficiency (preferred).

• An established record of public community involvement, such as conference speeches, technical blog writing, or webinars (preferred).
